Cherish Your Loved Ones

I’m reading about the horrible act of violence that took place in Alabama. A local resident went on a shooting rampage that left nine people dead, the mayor of one of the small towns in the killer’s line of fire was trying to understand how a man he’d known all his life could do such a thing.

The heavily armed shooter, Michael McLendon, took his own life after a 30-mile rampage across two counties. Among those he killed were his grandmother, uncle, niece and cousin. Police also suspect he burned down his mother’s house with her inside.

I’ve known Michael all of my life. As a matter of fact, I coached him along with my two sons in T-ball and Little League. If you would of asked me two days ago if he was capable of this, I would have said certainly not. ~ Samson Mayor Clay King

There was a photo posted of the mourning family members. Situtations like these make you realize how important it is to appreciate those you love. We all have busy lives and there is not enough time in the day to make time for everyone; however, take time today to reach out to that person you haven’t talked to in a while.

E-mail makes it easier for us to reach out to them. Think of someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and send them an e-mail. How are they doing? What have they been up to lately?

Never take for granted the fact that your loved ones are around you. Make dinner plans or schedule a lunch date. Friendship and family are priceless.
