I bet you worry. We all do at some point. There’s going to be something in your life that needs attention. A problem that needs to be solved. We all tend to worry about something that hasn’t even happened yet. That’s the worst! It’s not healthy to focus all your efforts on the “what ifs”. The average worrier is 92% inefficient – only 8% of what we worry about ever comes true.

8%! That’s a very low percentage. Go back to a recent situation that you worried about that never happened. How much energy did you drain? How much anxiety did you cause yourself? Unhealthy? Indeed it is. The next time you feel the need to worry, just step back and wait a minute. Ask yourself, “Is this really something I need to focus my efforts and energy on?”.

Do not anticipate trouble or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight. ~Benjamin Franklin

As the saying goes “It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile”. With that being said, I want to take the opportunity to express how important it is to smile every day. It can communicate feelings such as: love, happiness, pride, contempt, and embarrassment.

Smiling not only makes you stand out, but it also helps your body to function better. Smiling improves your health, your stress level and your attractiveness. You may not know it, but we are drawn to people who smile. We see a person smiling and want to know what is so good.

Smiling makes us feel better. The next time you’re “down in the dumps”, put a smile on and chances are your mood will change for the better.

I believe that yawning is contagious. Smiling is too. When I see someone smiling, they bring a happier mood to the room. Test is for yourself. The next time you go into work, walk around the office with a smile. I bet the people you pass will smile right back at you.

Feeling stressed? Put a smile on. Smiling helps to prevent us from looking tired, worn down and overwhelmed. Boost your immune system with a smile. When you smile, immune function improves possibly because you are more relaxed.

Smiling also lowers your blood pressure, releases endorphins, makes you look younger and helps you stay positive. The next time you feel down or stressed, lift your cheeks and show those pearly whites. Smiling is important.

Even if you are practicing the Law of Attraction and positive thinking, negative vibes can still become a presence in your thoughts. It is actually easy to fall back into old thought patterns that can have devastating effects on your mood. Some people don’t like when things are going well in their lives. They enjoy a life of drama. The drama gives them the feeling of purpose. They now have a situation to solve or a situation to create. They use the drama to have others feel sorry for them or gain attention to their cause. Surrounding yourself with people like this can drain your energy.

They can make you doubt the knowledge and feelings that you have worked hard to create for your life and inner peace. At times, you may have no choice but to be around people like this. Maybe they are family members or co-workers. In this case, your positive energy can turn events. You do not need to use your words to change events.

Utilizing a visualization method of a positive thought works well. Looking at a picture on your desk or cell phone of a loved one distracts the mind from the negative. Visualizing a happy event that you want to happen or one that has already happened can help clear away negative thoughts. If you enjoy the physical, go for a long walk outside at lunch or after work. Take time to look at the stillness of the trees, the beauty of nature, and become apart of it not just an onlooker. Clear the mind of all noise. After doing this, you will be better able to refocus your energy on the positive that you deserve to enjoy.

I use these methods often in my profession as a high school Special Education teacher. I also have called upon others that practice the Laws of Attraction and positive thinking for support when the noise in my mind becomes destructive. Reaching out to others that understand is a great way to refocus the energy and regain inner peace.
