Bad luck, we all have it. Without it, we would not have any good luck. I have heard people say “If it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all.” Where’s the positive thinking?

An important part of life is compassion. We all know what passion is, right? Passion is a powerful or compelling emotion or feeling. Without passion, life would seem like a black hole. Compassion is somewhat similar. We use the deep emotion and display its affection towards another person who is stricken by misfortune and we feel a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. (more…)

Often times people run into a situation where they wish they thought before they spoke. Have you encountered such an incident? Afterwards you may feel remorse and regret for saying what you said, knowing how it would affect the other party… but you said it anyway. Why? What did you gain from it? Or maybe you just made a mistake.

Most of us are given a “filter”. This “filter” protects us from saying stupid, asinine things. A thought will go through your head and as this thought makes its way to your mouth, the “filter” will make a last-minute decision on whether or not you should say this. Most of the time it works. You’re day dreaming about what you’re going to do later tonight when all of a sudden you stop hearing that mumbling sound and you realize it was the person you were talking to about a minute ago. People want to be beautiful. Right? I mean, don’t we all want to be attractive to others? I see people with money spend so much of it on ways to make them more appealing. Today I came across a very powerful quote that sums up what a beautiful person really is.

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.

I’m reading about the horrible act of violence that took place in Alabama. A local resident went on a shooting rampage that left nine people dead, the mayor of one of the small towns in the killer’s line of fire was trying to understand how a man he’d known all his life could do such a thing.

The heavily armed shooter, Michael McLendon, took his own life after a 30-mile rampage across two counties. Among those he killed were his grandmother, uncle, niece and cousin. Police also suspect he burned down his mother’s house with her inside. (more…)
