You Can Make a Difference

March 9th, 2010

Sometimes we may feel that our actions do not make a difference or contribute anything. We shouldn’t feel that way at all. The simplest action will cause a ripple effect and touch someone else’s life in some way. Everything in this world is interconnected. Science suggests that something as trivial as the beating of a butterfly’s wings in the Amazon can influence the formation of a tornado in Texas. (more…)

Self-Discipline

September 17th, 2009

You can do anything if you set your mind to it. Have you heard that before? Well, it’s true.

Setting your mind to something starts with self-discipline and self-motivation. Without that, you have no fuel to energize yourself to meet the goals you set. What is Love?

August 21st, 2009

Powerful and undoubtedly strong, love is an amazing emotion. In my opinion, the best description of love can be found in the Bible.

Corinthians 13
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Read that over and over and when you’re finished, read it again. What does it tell you? How does it make you feel? Every time I read that passage I feel uplifted.

An important part of life is compassion. We all know what passion is, right? Passion is a powerful or compelling emotion or feeling. Without passion, life would seem like a black hole. Compassion is somewhat similar. We use the deep emotion and display its affection towards another person who is stricken by misfortune and we feel a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. (more…)

Jealousy: The Vice that Gives no Pleasure

Everyone gets jealous. Some people are more jealous than others. You can’t help the way you feel when a situation presents itself that makes you feel that way. However; being aware of how your reaction is seen by the other party will help you control it.

Jealousy doesn’t necessarily apply to our significant others, it also applies to family. If your kindergartner comes home telling you how much she loves her teacher, you get jealous. Your mother tells your other sibling how proud she is of them, you get jealous. Your friend recently got promoted in their job, you get jealous. Now on to your partner. (more…)
